  All in all, we found xons platja a great place to spend a week with a family (of four, children 2 and 4) on a limited budget (in summer hols). I would recommend it, although subject to above.

  The beach is nice, although with rivers draining into the aeea, the water is not very clear. There are lots of play parks etc for kids. Empuriabrava itself is a slightly unusual place, with lots of canals etc, although from our limited exploration not anything akin to Venice to which i have heard it compared!

  Xons Platja does a very good budget half board experience. The food is very good value, and is at times excellent and plentiful. If you are vegetarian (i am Pescetarian) you will find most of the food contains meat. There is enough to get by but probably you'd be better going somewhere that offers food for veggies. The staff are wonderfully efficient. The apartment was clean and good layout although somewhat lacking in equipment if you are self catering or just want to have a hot drink. The pool area was for me what let it down. It is a 17.5m or so main pool. It was murky for the first half of our stay. The pool area is quite well set up, with sunbeds close to pools, bar etc, although somewhat run down and in my view in need of investment. The place is family friendly and you won't be alone with your screaming 2yr old at dinner!
